Before Anesthesia

Directives to follow before receiving anesthesia

All patients should observe these protocols:

• No smoking for at least 12 hours prior to surgery.
• No eating or drinking for at least 8 hours before surgery.
• You must be accompanied to the procedure by a spouse, partner, friend or neighbor, who will then drive you home after the procedure is completed. You should not drive for at least 24 hours.
• Do not wear contact lenses, jewelry or dentures.
• Review your daily medications with your dentist. Be sure you can take medications on the day of the procedure.
