What is an All-on-4 (or All-on-6)?
Dental implants are the gold standard of modern-day tooth replacement. Even though they’re frequently used for individual missing teeth, their strength and integrity make them possible to use in sets of 4-6 to replace all of your upper or lower teeth at one time.
An “All on 4” or “All on 6” fixed bridge is a hybrid prosthesis that incorporates the predictability of implants with a streamlined, minimalist restoration. All-on-4 treatments do not cover the roof of your mouth like a denture or plate. Rather, it’s an extended, multi-tooth bridge that follows the natural arch of your teeth.
Best of all, the hybrid appliance is fixed and non-removable. Similar to a traditional dental bridge. The only difference is that it’s attached to implants and replaces all of the teeth in that arch.
How Many Implants are Necessary?
An entire full-arch bridge may require as few as four implants, or six in cases where there’s not adequate bone density. Each of the implants is strategically placed at a key area where the bone quality allows the best support.
Since implants are stronger than natural teeth, they’re capable of withstanding the weight of multiple teeth at a time. That’s what makes it possible to use 4-6 of them to permanently support a full-arch restoration (up to 14 teeth at a time.)
Qualifications for All-on-4 Fixed Bridges
All-on-4 implants are great for people who don’t want to wear a traditional, removable denture/plate. Candidates also have relatively good oral health and bone support for the implants to be installed.
